એક તો બાપુ(રાજપૂત) પ્રોફેસર હોય તે ઘણાને નવું લાગતું હશે. પણ હવે ઘણા બધા બાપુઓ પ્રોફેસર હોય છે. બાપુ સાહિત્યકાર તરીકે પણ કેટલા? આંગળીના વેઢે ગણીએ તેટલા. ગુજરાતી જ્યાં વૈજ્ઞાનિક તરીકે બહુ ઓછો જોવા મળે ત્યાં એક ગુજરાતી બાપુ વળી વૈજ્ઞાનિક? અસંભવ! ભારત સરકારની બેંગ્લોરમાં આવેલી National Aerospace Laboratories.નેશનલ એરો સ્પેસ લેબમાં ડેપ્યુટી ડાયરેક્ટર અને સાયન્ટીસ્ટ G તરીકે ત્રણ દાયકા રીસર્ચ કાર્ય કરીને નિવૃત્ત થયા પછી સાઉથ આફ્રિકાની સરકારની ઓફર સ્વીકારી દોઢ વર્ષ ત્યાના વૈજ્ઞાનિકોને ગાઇડન્સ આપી
Dr. J. R. Raol was born in 1947 in India. He has BE(1972) and ME(1974) degrees from MS University of Baroda, Vadodara and PhD from McMaster University, Canada. He worked as a scientist in National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore for nearly three decades. He has been fellow/senior member/member of many professional societies/bodies and has served on many administrative/ technical/ examination committees. He has reviewed technical papers for several International Journals and visited several countries on deputation. He has guided several Master/Doctoral level students. He has authored (jointly) three technical books (one published by IEE/IET, London, UK, 2004; two by CRC Press, USA, 2008/2009) in the area of his work and specialization and has also published 150 papers/reports. He has also authored a book ‘Poetry of Life’ (Trafford Publishing, USA, Sept. 2009) containing 110 poems. His research interests are modeling, parameter estimation, data fusion, flight mechanics modeling & analysis, fuzzy systems, genetic algorithms, neural networks and robotics. His reading interests are science, evolution and philosophy.

મારો પુત્ર મનન ઇન્દિરા ગાંધી સેંટર ઑફ ઍટમિક રીસર્ચ (આઈજીકાર), કલ્પાકમ (ચેન્નઈ)માં સાયન્ટિફિક ઑફિસર ગ્રેડ ‘ડી’ છે. ગ્રેડ ‘સી’માંથી એને હમણાં જ પ્રમોશન મળ્યું. એ પણ રીસર્ચમાં જ છે. એટલે તમારા મોટા ભાઈની વિગતો જાણીને કઈંક પોતાપણાનો અનુભવ થયો.
પરંતુ હજી પણ આપણા દેશમાં વૈજ્ઞાનિકો કરતાં બ્યૂરોક્રેટસની કદર વધારે છે, એમ દેખાય છે.

દીપકભાઈ જાણીને ખૂબ આનંદ થયો. મૂળ વાત એ હતી કે ફેસબુક પર કોઈ બાપુએ જ જોક મુકેલી, કે બાપુ હાવર્ડમાં પ્રોફેસર બન્યા. એટલે મને થયું કે બાપુઓ સાવ બુદ્ધુ હોતા નથી. એટલે ફેસબુકમાં પોસ્ટ મૂકી પછી થયું અહીં પણ મુકવા દે.

ગુજરાતીઓમાટે ગર્વ લેવા જેવી બાબત તો ખરી. વેપારી રણમાં જીવનપર્યંતના કર્મીષ્ઠ વૈજ્ઞાનિક અને અધ્યાપકની મીઠી વીરડીના ચમત્કારો આજે પણ થઇ રહ્યા છે.
આવાજ એક વૈજ્ઞાનિક, શ્રી ડૉ. જે.જે.રાવલની જેમ ડૉ. જીતેન્દ્ર રાઓલની કલમ પણ આજની પેઢી સાથે સંવાદ સાધે અને અમારી પેઢીને તે માણવા મળે તેવી વિનંતિ.

જગતભરના સારા કવિઓ, દ્રષ્ટાઓ, મનીષીઓ,વૈજ્ઞાનિકો હોય છે.વિજ્ઞાન માણસને ગણિતના જગતમાં જીવતાં શીખવે છે તો કલા ગણિતથી પારના પ્રદેશમાં જીવનને કાવ્યમય બનાવવામાં મદદ કરે છે.હોમરના નિકટના સમકાલીન હોસિયોડની બે કવિતાઓ થિયોગોની અને ધ વર્ક્સ એન્ડ ડેઝ માં વિશ્વની ઉત્પતિ કઇ રીતે થઇ તેના ….. કૃષિ અથવા રહસ્યો શીખવે છે અથવા જ્યારે માર્સિયાસ ઓલોસની શોધ કરીને એપોલો સાથે સંગીત સમારોહમાં પ્રવેશે છે. ….. વિકાસ અને ૨0મી સદીનું આધ્યાત્મિક લખાણનું સંશોધન એક સાથે થયું અને પૌરાણિક કથાનું વિજ્ઞાન પ્રસ્થાપિત થયું !

આ તમે લખ્યુ એ ગમ્યુ પણ તમે અમારા જેવા ને મેટર આપી નહી તે કઠ્યુ . જીતેન્દ્ર ભાઈ આપના માટે કે આપના કુટુંબ માટેજ નહી પણ ગુજરાત માટે ગૌરવ ગણાય જીતેન્દ્ર ભાઈ ને મારા વતી અંગત અભિનંદન આપવા ખાસ વિનંતિ .

Indeed a rare combination. There are many doctors who are poets but not that much Engineers/Scientists (in physical sciences) are poets.
Your brother’s work and interest are quite similar to mine. I would to be in touch with him.

It is uncommon to meet either criminal or an extra ordinary person like Albert Einstein or so in our routine life.
In general we live common/simple life and deals with people like us in our routine.
But few are lucky those who have direct interaction with people like your brother. who is rare combination.

બેંગળૂરુમાં તો હું પણ રહું છું.
તમે મુરબ્બી જીતેન્દ્રભાઈનો પરિચય આપી અમને એક ઓથ આપી! આપ જો કોન્ટૅક્ટ આપશો તો રૂ-બ-રૂ મળવા પણ જઈશ.
મને નવાઈ નથી લાગતી કે જીતેન્દ્રભાઈ લખે અને વૈજ્ઞાનિક પણ હોય. જો જે.જે. રાવલ એમ કરે તો જીતેન્દ્ર રાઓલની શી નવાઈ?
દરબારો સાહિત્યના શોખીન હતા માટે તો દેશમાં સાહિત્ય ટક્યું છે!
મારાં માતુશ્રીને એક દરબાર કોટક સાયન્સ કોલેજમાં સાહિત્ય (!) ભણાવતા. ભૂલતો ન હોઉં તો એમનું નામ તખ્તસિંહ પરમાર. એમને ’ફૂલછાબ’માં ઘણી વાર વાંચ્યા પણ છે.
હમણાં પ્રવીણ પ્રકાશને રાજકોટના રાજવી મહેરામણજીના લખેલા એક ગ્રંથ ’પ્રવીણસાગર’નું પ્રકાશન કર્યું. આજે પણ હિન્દી સાહિત્યમાં સુભદ્રાકુમારી ચૌહાણનું નામ સુવર્ણાક્ષરે લખાયેલું છે ને!
હું હમણાં વેદો વાંચું છું અને શુનઃશેપ અને વિશ્વામિત્રના મંત્રો એમાં છે. જો એમને મંત્રો દેખાય તો આપણને કેમ નહીં? ગીતા પણ કોઈ ક્ષત્રીયે ગાઈ હતીને?

ભણતરને (અને યુદ્ધને અને ખેતીને અને વેપારને અને કારીગરીને અને સેવાને) વંશાનુગત બનાવીને આપણા સમાજે ભયંકર ભૂલ કરી. સાહિત્ય-કલાને કારીગરી કરતાં ઊંચાં ગણીને બીજી ભયંકર ભૂલ કરી. સ્ત્રીઓને અભણ રાખીને ત્રીજી ભૂલ કરી. મૂઠીભર ભણેલા માટે વિદેશના દરવાજા બંધ કરીને છેલ્લી ભયંકર ભૂલ કરી. આવી ભૂલો કરી તેમાં જ અસ્પૃશ્યતા પેઠી, દંભ પેઠો, દહેજ પેઠો, ગુલામી આવી અને ગરીબી પણ આવી.

આ તો હિન્દુ સમાજની ભૂલ સુધરી રહી છે! એક જમણેરી તરીકે આનંદ થાય છે.

સાવ જ સાચી વાત છે. જે મહેનત કરતો હતો તે નીચો. એટલે ટેકનોલૉજી સર્જનારો અને એનો જીવનને સુવિધાજનક બનાવવામાં ઉપયોગ કરનારો નીચો અને થોથાં વાંચનારો ઊંચો. આને કારણે આપણે ત્યાં વાતોનો જેટલો વિકાસ થયો એટલો કશાનો ન થયો. આથી જ, જ્યારે પણ વિજ્ઞાન કે ટેકનોલૉજીમાં નવી શોધ થાય છે ત્યારે આપણે લઘુતા ગ્રંથિથી ગ્રસ્ત પ્રજા દાવો કરીએ છીએ આપણાં શાસ્ત્રોમાં તો આ બધું લખેલું જ છે.

Dear brother,
I may correct your slip of pen or misunderstanding about my upcoming science-fiction novel. Its forward is written by Dr. J. r. Raol and a very matter of fact and very detailed opinion( Abhipray) is provided by Dr. J. J. Raval who himself has written many SF stories and novels. I was lucky to get opinions from such eminent scientists of India. Also i may inform you that i am going to meet both of them at different intervals of time in the near future. Am i not getting more fortunate as the clock ticks by.
According to me science and literature is a rare combination like gold having scent/ perfume.
